Jenny's Diary
May 15, 2002 - Now that it's warm out, it's great to be outside. Daddy says that I must be kidding, since I don't like to go outside when it's raining. Or cold. Or thinking about rain. Or humid. Or windy (though Daddy assures me that I'm much too, um, substantial to blow away.
But where we live, we have to be kept on a leash, and even if we didn't have to be, it's just smart that e do. I haven't demonstrated alot of smarts when it comes to choosing the right conditions under which to cross the street, but Daddy makes sure I'm safe.
A few weeks ago, or maybe even last year, we learned that there was a dog park in town. It sounded so exciting, especially since I'm not the most social of creatures. The only time I see other dogs it's either when I go back to see Otis and Shiloh and Buffy and Heidi and Sam. Aside from that, I see other dogs at Petsmart or sometimes when we're qalking, and when I do, I'm awful shy, my tail goes down and I look for places to hide.
A couple weeks ago we went to the dog park to scope it out. We found it divided into two sections, one for little dogs and one for larger ones. They let little dogs in the larger area, but that's for social dogs and for the little time I spent there, I was very shy. So for now, I think I'll stay in the litte dog/shy dog area until I get a little more comfortable with the surroundings and other dogs.
That first visit I met Sammy, a Bichon, and we seemed to get along pretty well.
We came back to the park over the wekend after we found it and brought Otis and Shiloh, and went to the small dog area. We found Coco, a miniature pinscher, and let me tell you, that skinny little thing could run! 2s three Pugs chased him all over, and the only one of us who could really keep up was, surprisingly, Shiloh. I say it's surprising because Shiloh is a house, h's that big. If there were a football league for Pugs, he'd be a linebacker. But the boy had more speed than me!
We expext the dog park to be a regular spot to visit, and I hope that as I spend more time there, I'll eventually warm up to the idea of playing with the bigger dogs and spend some time in their play area. But if I don't, it's really not that bad to be hanging out in the small/shy dog area, enjoying fresh air and sunshine.
Till next time, Jenny
